Heavy duty cardboard boxes

Some things are heavy, sharp, awkward or all three. Heavy duty boxes use double wall or triple wall corrugated to carry real weight, resist punctures and stack high on pallets for months without bulging. They are the box for parts, tools, machinery and bulk goods.

Double wall, triple wall and when you need them

Double wall corrugated has two flute layers and three liners. It handles most heavy duty jobs and stacks far higher than single wall. Triple wall adds a third flute for very heavy loads, bulk bins and export crates that would otherwise be wood. We pick the lightest construction that safely carries your weight with the stacking height you need.

Built around the pallet

Heavy boxes usually travel on pallets, so we size them to stack in a stable pattern on a standard pallet with minimal overhang. Overhang is one of the fastest ways to crush a box, and it is easy to avoid at the design stage.

Add what the load needs

Corner posts, pads, partitions, hand holes and full overlap flaps can all add strength or make handling easier. We will suggest what is worth adding for your product and what is not.

Who orders these

Heavy Duty Boxes: common questions

How much weight can a heavy duty box hold?

It depends on the board, size and how it is packed. As a rough guide, 48 ECT double wall boxes carry around 80 to 120 lb. We confirm the right board for your weight and stacking.

What is the difference between double wall and triple wall?

Double wall has two flute layers, triple wall has three. Triple wall is much stiffer and is used for very heavy items and bulk containers.

Can you make very large boxes?

Yes. Large boxes for furniture, equipment and bulk goods are common. Very large sizes may be made in two pieces or as telescoping boxes.

Are heavy duty boxes recyclable?

Yes. Double and triple wall corrugated are recyclable the same way as regular cardboard boxes.
